Humanitarian and Human Rights Situation Report for January - June, 2013

The following humanitarian situation report provided by Neroun Philip, Executive Director of the Sudan Relief and Rehabilitation Agency (SRRA) addresses the growing crisis in Southern Kordofan and Blue Nile States of Sudan.

This document provides an unvarnished picture of the reality of life in these two contested regions of Sudan.  Right now, more than one million people trapped inside the Nuba mountains and Blue Nile regions continue to suffer under a relentless campaign of ethnic cleansing and genocide by the regime of Omar al Bashir.

During the first six months of this year (2013), the Sudan Air Force conducted 328 air strikes using high altitude Antonov planes and jet fighters. The SRRA reports that 35 people were killed, mainly women and children, and around 62 civilians were injured at the point of impact.

However, the real impact of this campaign of aerial terror has been to forcibly displace an estimated 500,000 people and to manufacture a humanitarian crisis affecting 1.2 million people.

Neroun Philip provides irrefutable evidence of Khartoums genocidal campaign and its humanitarian impact in his well documented 18 page report.

It begs the question, Why does the U.S., U.N. and International Community continue to allow the genocide to continue with barely a word of protest?

Please take time to read this report, share it with others, and encourage your church and community to pray and act for the people of the Nuba and Blue Nile.

And please join with us in our efforts to bring physical relief and spiritual hope to the innocent victims of Sudan's ongoing crisis. Your giving saves lives, delivers hope and testifies to an active faith that seeks justice for the poor.
